To meet Nightmare in Date Everything, drink a caffeinated coffee with Kopi using your final daily charge, then go directly to bed. For Love, take her scares seriously and support her when she becomes anxious. Her relationship develops through six encounters, with earlier answers affecting the final options. Encounter method

Where to find Nightmare: coffee, then bed

Nightmare is encountered during sleep. Use four of your five daily glasses charges elsewhere, then visit Kopi, the coffee maker in the kitchen, with the last one. Choose a caffeinated drink, such as a latte, and head straight to your bed. GameRant specifically warns that another stop, including an attic conversation with Zoey, interrupts this setup. There is also a random chance of encountering her during ordinary sleep, but waiting is less useful when you want to progress the route deliberately. You do not need a remaining charge for Nightmare herself: the charge goes toward Kopi's conversation. DualShockers confirms that the subsequent bedroom encounter happens after going to sleep. Nighttime encounter

Plan your other visits before coffee. If you are tracking several routes, write down that Kopi is your final stop so another conversation does not slip between the drink and bedtime.

If Nightmare does not appear after coffee

Check the drink and the sequence first: was it caffeinated, was Kopi your final charge, and did you go directly to sleep? Recreate those conditions on your next attempt before changing unrelated routes. Trigger checklist

Bonus Action reports meeting Nightmare after starting romances with Kopi and Stepford in its playthrough. It does not establish those romances as requirements, and the other encounter walkthroughs do not require them. Treat that detail as the author's playthrough context. Reported encounter

Encounters one to three: respect the fear

The introduction uses an insect nightmare. Choose a frightened reaction instead of dismissing her attempt, and ask how you can meet again. The second encounter involves public speaking and teeth, followed by a choice of deeper fear: abandonment, failure or mediocrity. DualShockers treats all three fear selections as valid; the important part is how you respond afterward. Early encounters

The third encounter follows the fear you selected. Take the scenario seriously and acknowledge the lesson when Nightmare asks what it means. For example, the abandonment branch connects fear of loss with being unwilling to accept love. The branch changes the dream you see; it does not establish abandonment as the only possible romance choice. Fear branch walkthrough

Keep a save before choosing your fear if you want to revisit that decision. Record the fear you selected alongside your relationship goal, so you can distinguish a different dream scene from a different ending route.

Encounters four and five: talk, flirt and reassure

The fourth visit gives you space to talk to Nightmare as a person. Bonus Action's successful Love sequence asks to talk before the scare, expresses personal interest and appreciates the importance of her work. Use the flirtatious opportunities while continuing to value what she does. Love route walkthrough

On the fifth visit, she worries that becoming closer to you has weakened her ability to frighten you. Ask whether she is okay, offer to discuss the problem and reassure her when she attempts another scare. Bonus Action's documented route then encourages her to accept the developing relationship. Fifth encounter

This is a useful save checkpoint. Read the response's meaning before selecting it: offering reassurance and mocking her anxiety move the conversation in different directions, even if both contain jokes.

Encounter six: choose the relationship offered

The final encounter resolves her feelings. If your earlier choices have opened the romantic confession, the wiki documents explicit options for Friends, Hate and Love. “I like you too.” accepts the romance. If she offers only friendship, accept that offer for Friends; the wiki warns that insisting on romance in that situation can lead to Hate. Final choices

After Friends, later dream choices include scary or sweet. Love adds a sexy dream option. Hate instead produces a hostile response. These are post-ending interactions, so use your recorded relationship status to confirm which result you obtained. Ending behavior

Why did I get Friends instead of Love?

TheGamer describes Love as a route built across the conversations: respond with believable fear, affirm Nightmare's purpose and give meaningful feedback. It describes mistakes or weak feedback as potential reasons for friendship instead. Dismissing the fear and undermining her purpose push toward Hate. A romantic answer at the end cannot be assumed to erase earlier choices. Relationship outcomes

Published friendship instructions differ. TheGamer recommends being honestly frightened without exaggerating; Bonus Action documents a Friends sequence that starts with dismissive answers before becoming supportive. The safer deliberate friendship route is to follow the supportive approach, then choose Friends when offered on the romantic branch. Do not rely on early insults as a universal friendship shortcut. Friendship guidance, alternative documented sequence

If you are replaying for Love, load a save before the uncertain conversation and change that decision deliberately. Keep your successful choices recorded rather than changing several encounters at once; otherwise it becomes difficult to identify what affected the result.

Nightmare's Realization recipe and prerequisites

Nightmare requires the following SPECS totals. The wiki and Bonus Action's recipe list agree on all five categories. Nightmare recipe, recipe cross-check

SPECS categoryRequired points
Smarts45
Poise100
Empathy35
Charm70
Sass0

Realization is a separate late-game system. The wiki requires a Love or Friends ending, then describes the general unlock as awakening 48 Dateables and speaking with Skylar. Merely meeting Nightmare or reaching 100 Poise does not complete those conditions. System prerequisites

Nightmare also has Unfurnished Business involving Betty and Zoey, according to the wiki's dependency table. Clear the relevant appearances in those storylines if her Realization remains blocked. That table identifies connections; it does not say you must romance both characters. Unfurnished Business

Check your current status, each SPECS category and any unfinished story dependency separately. See the Realization guide for the broader unlock process, or return to the character directory to plan your remaining visits. Before moving on, note your ending, selected fear and remaining Realization requirement so the next visit has a clear purpose.
